The latest addition to the Apple Arcade library is a reimagined actual arcade classic. It’s called Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins and you can grab it from the App Store right this second. It’s a follow on to the also excellent Frogger in Toy Town, but it throws some new surprises into the mix.
For one thing you’re not just bounding through traffic. Here you’re manipulating the levels as well, a bit like in Monument Valley, opening up new pathways for you to bounce down. Also Frogger is wearing a pretty neat Indiana Jones-style hat.
There’s definitely a bigger focus on platforming challenges here than in previous Frogger games, and you’re going to have to have your wits about you if you want to survive. Here’s a trailer that shows off what you can expect.
There’s definitely a lot going on there, and it’s good to see more original – or, y’know, original-ish – content coming to Apple Arcade. This isn’t just a game for people with rose-tinted memories about the original Frogger, it’s got some neat ideas of its own too.
You can click here to download Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins from the App Store right this second. It’s free, so long as you’ve got an Apple Arcade subscription. Which we just assume you all have by now.
