There’s been a tremendous amount of rumor and speculation surrounding Nintendo’s first foray into the mobile gaming market over the past year. It might all come to an end tomorrow though, as The Wallstreet Journal are reporting that some solid details are incoming about Nintendo/DeNA’s much-vaunted mystery title then.
According to WSJ, Nintendo’s CEO Tatsumi Kimishima said the following today during a meeting with investors: “We will provide updates on our project with DeNA tomorrow.”
There’s no word on how much detail Nintendo will be going into about the game; however, if it’s still on track to launch before the end of 2015, you’d expect them to at least announce a tentative release date. Or maybe they’ll go nuts and tell us the name of the game?
On that note, the rumor mill — fueled by a series of tweets from gaming industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto — suggests that the game will be based on an existing IP, but that it won’t feature Mario or any other of Nintendo’s “big guns.” I guess that dashes my dreams of an iOS version of Mario Kart (for the time being at least anyway.)
2) Don’t get your hopes up too high for Mario. But I heard Nintendo and DeNA are planning to pull out the big guns (bigger IPs) next year.
