Torchlight: Infinite – 5 Things You Need To Know
As we alluded to earlier, this is the latest n the Torchlight series. And there’s plenty to cover. With our insights, you’ll know what to expect before you get started, giving you the best possible chance for success. Let’s dive in.
Hero Building
One of the first things you do when you start the game is to build your hero. Choosing your character class is essential, as it will not only decide your strengths and weaknesses but also directly influence your playstyle.
The five character classes currently available are as follows:
- Berserker – Rehan is perfect for melee combat.
- Elemental Mage – Gemma uses energy mech technology to attack with fire and ice.
- Time Mage – Youga can manipulate time to spot weaknesses in the enemy before attacking.
- Ranged – Carino attacks from distance.
- Summoner – Moto is a dwarf who can summon mechanical minions to attack on his behalf.
While you may lean towards one character class or another, there are almost limitless ways of developing each character, thanks to skills and talents.
Skills and Talents
The next thing you need to know is how skills and talents work. Each of these will influence the progression of your character.
Skills are earned as you level up your character. Energy allows you to unlock additional skill slots, and these skills come in one of four classes: Active, Passive, Support, and Trigger.
Talent trees also help to boost your character. There are six main trees, each offering three other trees as you level up.
The six main trees are:
- Goddess of Hunting
- God of Might
- Goddess of Knowledge
- God of War
- Goddess of Darkness
- God of Machines
As you progress along a talent tree, a series of nodes offer additional benefits, such as defense, attack, or main stats improvements.
Loot
Torchlight: Infinite is advertised as a “true loot-based ARPG.” In practice, the game offers unlimited, randomized drops in all battles, and it’s possible to acquire everything you need for free. There is a shop if you want, but if you’re happy to grind, you won’t need to use it.
Trading
If you find yourself weighed down by all sorts of useless loot that you don’t need, then you can use the Trade House to sell or exchange your items. You can then acquire whichever elusive treasure you need.
It’s a great way to help others build their characters and to put those finishing touches to your own.
