At the end of last year IGG, purveyor of blockbuster strategy MMO Lords Mobile, announced a contest to design a castle skin for charity.
Using the theme “Childhood Playground”, players were invited to design a castle and submit it first to a review panel at IGG and then to a public vote. The winning castle skin would be sold in-game, with the proceeds from the first two weeks going to Make-A-Wish International.
On top of that, IGG pledged a further $10,000 for every 100,000 new followers it signed up to its Instagram account during the competition period.
IGG applied strict conditions to the contest, ensuring that the entries were of the highest quality. The studio banished plagiarism, outlawed copyright infringement, and encouraged creative flair and architectural ingenuity.
Well, the competition ran, and a winner emerged. Congratulations to Daniela León, who designed the excellent castle skin you can see above these words.
One More Thing…
But the story doesn’t end there. In a final act of generosity, IGG has decided to donate a further $100,000 to Make-A-Wish International.
Make-A-Wish is one of the most recognisable charities in the world. Founded in 1980, it aims to fulfil the wishes of critically or terminally ill children through fundraising and volunteering.
As you can imagine, the wishes vary enormously from child to child. Some want to be police officers, some want to look after animals, some want to meet an astronaut, and some just want cool stuff that their families can’t otherwise afford.
Whatever the wish, Make-A-Wish does everything it can to deliver. And if you bought Daniela León’s castle skin, you did your bit too.
This charity initiative isn’t the first that IGG has thrown itself into. Last year alone it raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for War Child, as well as donating medical supplies to tackle the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan.
