You know, I’ve often thought that Matthew Vaughn’s crazy, action-packed spy flick Kingsman: The Secret Service could be a good candidate for a video game adaptation. And NHN Pixelcube and FoxNext Games would seem to agree, because they’ve today announced that they’re joining forces to release a mobile game based on the smash-hit movie and its upcoming sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
So what form will this adaptation take, you ask? Well, according to the press release I received, it’s a “real-time action puzzle RPG” that sees players stepping into the shoes of Eggsy, Harry, Roxy, and various other characters from the movies as they attempt to thwart some manner of world-ending threat. Aside from that brief synopsis the press release is kinda light on info, but it does mention that the game will feature both a single-player campaign and PVP modes.
Movie tie-in games on mobile are usually something of a mixed bag, but given how much I love the first Kingsman movie — and how great the sequel looks — I’ve got my fingers crossed that this turns out to be one of the good ones. I won’t have to wait long to find out either way, because the game is set to hit the App Store and Google Play next month, around the same time as Kingsman: The Golden Circle blasts into theaters (September 22).
